There are always a lot of Garmin Prime Day deals to consider if the sales event rolls around when you’re looking for a new sports watch, and perhaps the most exciting discount of all in the Prime Big Deal Days sale is the $150 that’s been knocked off the Garmin Epix 2.

I love the Garmin Epix 2 and have used it as my main sports watch for most of the time since it launched in 2022, including running a 2hr 28min marathon in Berlin and a 2hr 29min marathon in Valencia. I also used it to run the Bilbao Bizkaia Marathon and London Marathon in 2023 at more sedate paces—London was just a week after Berlin to be fair.

When the Garmin Epix Pro came out I started using that, but I only prefer the Epix Pro for the longer battery life on the 51mm edition. Otherwise the older Garmin Epix 2 is every bit as good, and it’s much cheaper, especially in the Prime Day sale.

Both the steel and titanium Epix 2 watches are reduced by $150 in the sale, but I think the one to get is the titanium model, even though it’s $100 more. The upgrade in materials is one thing—the titanium Epix 2 also has a sapphire crystal screen and is both lighter and more durable than the steel one—but the key reason for me is that only the titanium model has multi-band GPS.

Garmin’s multi-band GPS mode is the most accurate on the market and as someone who obsesses about GPS, the Epix 2’s accuracy was a key reason it was useful to me when training for and running marathons. The extra accuracy is useful when pacing the race itself, but even more important when running hard training sessions on the road and trying to stick to certain paces. Unlike race day, there are no mile or kilometer markers to help you judge your pace then, and having the best GPS accuracy you can get is invaluable.

Along with multi-band GPS, the Epix 2 also packs in all of Garmin’s other great features, including all the new software features that launched with the Epix Pro this year that have been rolled back via an update to the older watch, like hill score and endurance score.

The bright AMOLED display is what separates the Epix 2 from the Garmin Fenix 7 (also on sale and just as good if you prefer an LCD display that extends battery life), and this display is brilliant for viewing the color maps on the watch. It also has extensive training analysis, smart features like music storage and NFC payments.

I found the Epix 2 to be more or less perfect throughout my use of it, and the only thing that makes it hard to recommend is the high price, so getting $150 off its RRP in the Prime Day sale is certainly welcome.

It’s always exciting when an Apple product gets a big discount, especially a new one like the 2023 version of the AirPods Pro 2, which have been reduced from $249 to $189 in the Amazon Prime Big Deal Days event.

However, $189 is still a lot of money, especially when you can get my favorite all-round set of sports headphones for just $69.99 in the Prime Day sale (or £66.49 in the UK). The Jabra Elite 4 Active came out last year, but they’re still right up there with the best workout headphones, and this is a huge 42% discount on the $119.99 RRP.

The Jabra Elite 4 Active offer everything you want in sports headphones. The fit is secure, despite not having any wings, and the lack of wings mean they are more comfortable than other buds to wear for long periods. I usually find that in-ear buds fall out of my ears when running, but Jabra’s headphones are the exception to that, and the Elite 4 Active stayed in place for me during a variety of workouts when I tested them.

Along with the reliable fit, you get good sound quality and active noise cancellation from the buds, plus Jabra’s HearThrough mode, which allows you to hear your surroundings, a handy feature when running or cycling outside while using them. 

I’d say the sound quality and ANC are good for $120 buds, so exceptional for $70, but it’s not as good as on more expensive buds like the Jabra Elite 8 Active or AirPods Pro 2, so that might be one reason to spend more. 

Given their small size, the Elite 4 Active headphones impress on the battery life front as well. The buds last seven hours, and you get another 21 hours from the case. They also have an actual button on them to control playback, which is easier to use during workouts than the touch controls on most sports headphones.

You can get better workout headphones than the Jabra Elite 4 Active, but not for $120, and certainly not for $70. This is the best sports headphones deal in the Prime Day sale.

Buying a treadmill can be a daunting task. In most cases you’re spending thousands of dollars so you want to make the right choice, or you’re spending hundreds but have the nagging feeling that you will be stuck with a machine that isn’t worth the money.

Thankfully, the October Prime Day rerun—Amazon Prime Big Deal Days— features deals on several tried-and-tested favorites, including one which earned the full five stars from our reviewer.

Amazon Prime Day sales events run for two days in July (11th and 12th) and another two in October (10th and 11th) making this a great time to invest in larger pieces of fitness equipment like a treadmill or exercise bike.

The best Prime Day Garmin deals are usually found on the most expensive watches in the company’s range, because you can save hundreds on devices like the Garmin Epix 2 or Fenix 7. 

However, even with big discounts those watches remain too expensive for a lot of people, and overkill for what they need. If you’re looking for the best affordable watches in the sale, then I’d recommend the Garmin Forerunner 55 or Garmin Venu Sq 2 Music, both of which are available for under £200.

I’ve tested pretty much the entire range of Garmin watches and the Forerunner 55 stands out as the best entry-level running watch, while the Venu Sq 2 Music is the best cheap smartwatch. While both lack some features you find on pricier options, they both punch above their weight at the price they’re available for in the Amazon Prime Big Deal Days sale. You won’t find a better running watch than the Forerunner 55 for £120 from any brand, or a better sporty smartwatch than the Venu Sq 2 Music for £185.

One of the best features about the Forerunner 55 is the guidance it can offer new runners, with suggested workouts each day based on your recent training load. You can also follow Garmin Coach training plans for 5K, 10K and half marathon events on the watch, and these are personalized to your ability and available time to run when you set them up in the Garmin Connect app.

The Garmin Venu Sq 2 Music is a remarkably capable little watch too, and a good-looking one thanks to its bright AMOLED display. It has smart features like music storage and the ability to link with Spotify, Amazon Music and Deezer premium accounts, so you can transfer your music across wirelessly. It also offers NFC payments through Garmin Pay, and as always with Garmin, is a reliably good sports watch too. 

It also works with both Apple and Android phones and is a better sports tracker than any true smartwatch around its price. Garmin also has the more expensive Vivoactive and Venu smartwatches in its range, which are a little more elegant with their circular design, but the Venu Sq 2 Music matches them on features for the most part.

If you’re looking for a comfortable pair of cushioned running shoes in the Amazon Prime Big Deal Days sale, then the two top picks both come from Asics. The Asics Gel-Cumulus 24 and Asics Gel-Nimbus 24 are both reduced in the sale, with the cheapest pairs available for just $63.

Within Asics’s range the Gel-Nimbus outranks the Gel-Cumulus as the brand’s flagship neutral cushioned shoe, and since the Gel-Nimbus is the more expensive shoe, you might think it’s the clear pick in the sale since both are reduced to the same price.

However, I racked up 50 miles in each of the two shoes for my Asics Gel-Nimbus 24 review and Asics Gel-Cumulus 24 review on Coach, and ended up preferring the Cumulus, so I’d suggest bagging it in the Amazon sale over the Nimbus.

The two shoes share some similar elements, with stretchy mesh uppers, and a thick layer of rubber covering most of the outsole to ensure good grip and durability. The Nimbus 24 uses Asics’s FF Blast+ foam in its midsole, compared to FF Blast on the Gel-Cumulus 24, but although Asics says FF Blast+ is softer and springier than FF Blast, I preferred the ride feel of the Cumulus.

Part of that is down to it having a lower drop compared with the Nimbus. The Cumulus has an 8mm offset, while the Nimbus has a 10mm drop on the men’s shoe and 13mm on the women’s. The lower drop created a smoother ride for me, and the extra forefoot cushioning on the Cumulus meant it was more comfortable on long runs.

Both are good cushioned shoes though, and very different from the latest Gel-Nimbus 25 and Gel-Cumulus 25, which have much higher stack heights—and are much more expensive to boot. I’d get the Cumulus 24 in the sale, but if you like higher-drop shoes then the Nimbus is just as good a bargain.

There are plenty of sizes and colors available of both shoes for now, though you will find the price jumps around as you choose different sizes and colors, so you might have to pay a little more than $63 for your size and preferred design.

Peloton’s exercise bikes have become a pleasingly familiar sight in Amazon’s Prime Day sales, and both the Peloton Bike and Peloton Bike+ are available at significant discounts as part of the Prime Big Deal Days event this October.

Whichever Peloton you go for, you’ll be getting one of the best exercise bikes, with both offering the same access to the huge library of live and on-demand spinning classes with a Peloton All-Access membership ($44/£39 a month). 

Having tested the best spinning bikes from a range of brands, I can say from experience Peloton’s classes are the most engaging available, and the bikes are excellent bits of kit too, running smoothly and quietly no matter how hard you’re pushing.

The price difference between the Peloton Bike and Peloton Bike+ is considerable even in the sale, with the Bike costing $1,095/£1,095 (reduced from $1,445/£1,345) and the Bike+ $1,995/£1,645 (down from $2,495/£1,995). With that in mind, I’d say the Bike is the better pick for most people, because the upgrades you get with the Bike+ don’t quite justify the extra outlay.

The key differences between the bikes are that with the Bike+ you get a larger 23.8in screen, compared with the 21.5in screen on the Bike. That screen also rotates 360°, whereas it is fixed on the Bike, which makes it harder to follow non-cycling workouts like yoga or strength sessions on the cheaper bike.

Another big difference is that the Bike+ will automatically change the resistance for you during instructor-led workouts, which means you can focus on the ride rather than having to twist the resistance dial yourself. The Peloton Bike+ also has better speakers and a faster processor, and can link up with Apple products via the Apple GymKit feature. 

All of these upgrades are useful, but for most people none of them are essential. You save $900 by opting for the Bike in the sale, which will pay for your first 20 months of Peloton All-Access membership. So unless you can spot an upgrade above that you think will substantially increase your enjoyment of the bike, I’d get the standard Peloton Bike.

Amazon is spoiling us with Garmin deals in its Prime Big Deal Days sale, with several of the best sports watches dropping to their lowest price ever. That includes the Garmin Fenix 7, and you actually have a choice of models in the sale, with both the standard Fenix 7 and larger Fenix 7X Solar both reduced significantly in the UK.

The Garmin Fenix 7X Solar is the more eye-catching deal, because the £240 discount is huge and so is the watch, with its larger frame offering more room for a bigger screen and battery than you get with the Fenix 7, and it also has solar panels to extend its battery life further.

However, having tested and reviewed Garmins for many years, including almost all of the current range, I’d say the Fenix 7 is the better deal. For one, it’s a smaller, lighter watch that’s more comfortable to wear all the time than the Fenix 7X, and it’s also simply a lot cheaper than the larger watch in the sale at £419.99 vs £539.99.

I tested the Fenix 7X Solar Sapphire model for our review on Coach and while there are definite benefits to the bigger watch, the larger size is also a drawback at times since it is heftier and less comfortable to wear 24/7. The battery life of the 7X Solar is excellent and it will last weeks on a charge, but unless you live in a sunny place and spend hours outdoors every day, the solar panels won’t add much in the way of battery life (I've written in-depth about whether Garmin’s solar panels are worth it).

It’s also important to note that the Fenix 7X Solar is not a sapphire model, and so doesn’t have multi-band GPS, neither does the discounted Fenix 7. Both watches are still accurate GPS trackers using the all-systems-on mode, but there’s no mutli-band boost even if you opt for the pricier Fenix 7X Solar.

If you have large wrists and simply want the biggest and best battery life available in the sales, then the Garmin Fenix 7X Solar is the one to get—this is still an excellent deal—but having used a variety of Fenix models of different sizes, I think the Fenix 7 will work better for most people, and it’s £120 cheaper.

The Garmin Epix 2 was one of the watches to look out for in the Amazon Prime Big Deal Days sale, and Amazon has delivered with the biggest discount we’ve ever seen on the watch: Both the steel and titanium models are reduced by $150 in the US.

While Garmin Epix 2 is no longer the top model in the Epix line—that honor belongs to the Garmin Epix Pro, which launched this year—the Epix 2 has been updated with all the latest and best features Garmin offers. It’s undoubtedly still one of the best sports watches available from any brand, with a bright AMOLED display, music storage and maps, and the most impressive sports tracking and training analysis on the market.

We saw the Epix 2 reduced by $100 in the Prime Day sale in July, a great deal at the time, but Amazon has gone $50 better for Big Deal Days. You can get either the steel model of the Epix 2 for $549.99, reduced from $699.99, or the titanium mode for $649.99, down from $799.99.

The benefits of the titanium model extend beyond its lighter, hardier titanium bezel and sapphire crystal screen, because only the sapphire models of the Epix 2 have multi-band GPS tracking. Garmin’s multi-band tracking is the most accurate from any brand, and while the all-systems-on GPS mode on the steel Epix 2 is still good, it’s not as impressive.

Unfortunately for those hunting for deals in the UK, it’s only the steel model that’s included in the Prime Big Deal Days sale on Amazon UK. It’s an excellent deal though, with the watch reduced from £599.99 to £509.99, the cheapest we’ve seen it.

You can now save more than $210 on the NordicTrack 50lb iSelect Adjustable Dumbbells ahead of Amazon’s Prime Big Deal Days. 

For that price you get a pair of adjustable dumbbells with 10 weight options each (from 5lb to 50lb, jumping in 5lb increments), doing the job of 20 fixed-weight dumbbells without cluttering up your home workout space. 

They also come with a neat docking tray and a complementary 30-day membership to the iFit fitness app, as well as Alexa voice controls (requires separate Alexa device, not included). 

To increase or decrease the load, simply place them in the docking tray and use the central adjustment knob or voice controls to choose the weight you want them to be. The motorized weight-changing mechanism attaches the necessary plates to the central handle in seconds, while any that are surplus to requirements will be left in the tray.

This is especially handy for superset workouts, allowing you to quickly switch the weight you’re lifting as you move between exercises—something traditional spinlock sets can’t manage.

The NordicTrack iSelect Adjustable Dumbbells have had their price dropped ahead of Amazon’s latest sales event, the Amazon Prime Big Deal Days. 

This will take place over Tuesday, October 10th, and Wednesday, October 11th, with the online retail giant promising “two days of epic deals on top brands”. Many of these will only be available to Amazon Prime members, but this NordicTrack offer is open to all. 

While Coach hasn’t reviewed this pair, NordicTrack is one of the top manufacturers of fitness equipment, including home cardio machines, and our sister site Tom’s Guide awarded them four-and-a-half stars out of a possible five after putting them to the test.

They praised the time-saving voice controls, streamlined design and steel knurling on the central handle, which offers great grip during even the sweatiest dumbbell workout.

I try to avoid spending money for the sake of it, even when Prime Day fitness deals roll in. Instead, I only buy things that will genuinely benefit my workouts. 

This year, that's whittled my basket down to one (mercifully affordable) bit of kit: the Beast Gear Weightlifting Straps, which has had its price dropped to a measly £6.39 on Amazon. 

A friend lent me their pair after I forgot my regular figure-eight set for a Friday deadlift session last week and I was impressed. So much so that, when I saw them in the Prime Day sale, I swiftly snapped them up. 

I've tried a fair few lifting straps over the years, but these had a couple of thoughtful touches that made them a cut above. 

The loop for my forearms fitted well and a padded portion around the wrist kept me comfortable throughout high-volume sets of relatively heavy (for me) deadlifts. 

They have raised rubber on the straps themselves, which I found easier to grip than others I’ve used, and there’s less slack than with figure-eight straps. 

If you’re wondering whether lifting straps are for you, strap in for a quick 101. 

All lifting straps have the benefit of removing grip as a limiting factor for certain exercises, such as deadlifts, clean pulls and farmer’s carries.

Rather than having to drop the weights when your forearms grow sore, but your larger muscle groups haven’t reached the stimulus needed for strength gains, you can keep going. 

Not everyone needs them, though. If your gym workouts tend to revolve around lighter hypertrophy training, or you rarely tackle grip-intensive exercises, there's no point owning lifting straps. 

However, if you’re partial to a bit of powerlifting or follow a varied exercise plan like CrossFit where strength-based training is a frequent fixture, a pair could well come in handy. Just don’t rely on them all the time, or you’ll never improve your grip strength.

Energy gels are a great way to top up your reserves of carbohydrates if your run or cycle is going to last longer than 90 minutes, giving you an easily-digested boost of energy as you tick off the miles. We’ve tested loads to put together this selection of the best running gels and our pick of the best all-rounder is Science in Sport’s (SiS) GO Isotonic Energy.

Each gel has 22g of carbs and the isotonic formula means it’s easy to take without water. Multiple testers have used them without any—ahem—digestive trouble.

They’re a reliable option and with a Prime Day discount of 20% now’s a great time to stock up. You can nab a 30-pack of lemon and mint flavor for just £23.19, or a 15-pack for £17.19.

If you want to taste test a range of SiS flavors, a variety mixed pack of five will set you back just £5.40.

SiS is one of the main gels I use for long runs. I appreciate the variety of flavors (the cherry flavour is a 10 out of 10) and the sweetness of the gels isn’t overpowering.

The consistency isn’t too thick, so I don’t always take water after having one. They are, however, a bit bulkier to carry than other gels so plan on wearing a running belt when you’re out for more than a couple of hours. 

If you’re training for a marathon or half marathon and plan on using gels, you’ll need a lot to fuel your training (and get your gut used to digesting them on the run) and plenty on the day—up to three an hour—so I recommend stocking up on these gels now. You’ll save money in the long run.

There are several great Prime Day deals on Garmin watches, with the standout being the $300 discount on the Garmin Epix 2. However, the best deal for Garmin owners is this 20% reduction on the price of three nylon bands.

These are not Garmin’s own nylon bands, which cost a slightly silly $60 and are only available in the 26mm size that fits the brand’s largest watches, like the Fenix 7X or Enduro 2. Instead they are a third-party set of three 22mm bands, which fit a wide range of Garmin watches including the Forerunner 955 and 965, Epix 2, Fenix 7.

I have used Garmin’s own nylon bands and also purchased several off-brand ones to use with Garmin watches, and can say that you don’t lose much at all by going for the cheaper option. I've not used these exact bands from Olytop, but my experience with third-party bands is that they are the same regardless of the brand involved. The bands are more comfortable than the standard silicone ones that come with the watches, dry quickly, and it’s easy to adjust the fit to make sure it’s tight enough for sports.  

The downside of nylon bands compared with silicone, and this goes for Garmin’s own ones as much as the third-party options, is that nylon will degrade over time, especially if you regularly wear the band in the shower or when swimming. They still last me a year of intense use though, and even then they just look a little worn, rather than being completely wrecked.

Getting three bands for $16.79 in the Prime Day sale means you can use them without fear of wrecking an expensive item, and swap between them depending on your preferred color—the trio of bands in this deal are black, grey and dark green.

To attach the band you just loop the ends through the bars on the watch and attach them using the velcro. The bands fit wrists from 6.2in-9.25in, and as someone with thin wrists I’ve always found they work well for me.

There are many nylon bands like these available on Amazon, with a lot of them included in the Prime Day sale, so you can shop around to find a color you like, but getting three for $17 is the best deal I’ve come across so far.

I’ve been a bit disappointed with the lack of deals on big-ticket fitness equipment this Amazon Prime Day, but there are a couple of offers that caught my eye. 

The Hydrow Rower is down $500, while it’s more compact and relatively affordable cousin the Hydrow Wave has had its price slashed from $1,895 to $1,695. 

Now, I’ll admit, both rowing machines still represent a considerable investment. But I genuinely believe the chance to save a decent chunk on these impressive at-home training tools is always worth flagging—here’s why.

As an avid CrossFitter, and consequently a Concept2 RowErg devotee, I approached both the Hydrow Rower and Hydrow Wave with a heavy hit of apprehension. Why did rowing machines need extra tech, and how would Peloton’s touchscreen-meet-exercise machine format play out on something other than a static bike?

Happily, after spending time testing each of them, these machines blew all my preconceptions out the water.

While the comparisons to Peloton (which is offering up to $350 off its bikes for Prime Day) are inevitable, Hydrow charts its own course with a new approach to smart fitness. Instead of bright lights, studio settings and enthusiastic instructors, Hydrow’s team comprises former Olympians, international athletes and elite coaches who lead you through immersive on-water workouts. 

You’re taken aboard the boat alongside your coach as they talk you through each session, providing tips, tricks and some entertaining patter to help you get more out of your time on the machine. The scenery doesn’t hurt either, with the chance to virtually visit some of the world’s most picturesque lakes and waterways. 

As a result, I found that committing to a consistent stroke rate and listening to the gentle swooshing of the water made it easy to forget I was in our testing center and not skimming across the surface of Loch Lomond, particularly after linking my Bluetooth workout headphones.

There’s a steady stream of new content to enjoy on the Hydrow platform too, including rowing sessions to suit a variety of fitness goals and some off-rower options such as yoga, Pilates, circuits and functional strength training. There’s an online community to compete against, tutorials on proper rowing technique and thousands of different classes to try. 

These aren’t free, unfortunately. You’ll have to pay a monthly subscription of $44/month to access the app, and without it the only thing available to you will be a basic “just row” option. It adds to the expense, but for the right person, I think it’s worth it. If you’ve tried conventional gyms or reluctant treadmill trudges, and both left you mind-numbingly bored, this fresh take on fitness might be the thing that gets you hooked. 

There were two main selling points to the Garmin Forerunner 745 when it originally launched in late 2020, which were that it was a cheaper triathlon watch than the Forerunner 945 and Fenix range, and that it was a much smaller watch that suited thinner wrists.

At the time, I didn’t really rate those benefits as enough to make the 745 a better option than the 945, which was only a little more expensive and had offline maps as the standout feature not available on the 745, along with longer battery life.

When Garmin launched the Forerunner 255—a smaller and cheaper multisport watch than the 745 that also offers more accurate multi-band GPS and heart rate variability tracking—it seemed to signal the end of the Forerunner 7X5 line in general, and the 745 has not been supported with recent software updates.

The Forerunner 745 became the forgotten Forerunner, until Amazon Prime Day 2023 rolled around with a huge discount on the watch, which is going for $279.99 down from its RRP of $499.99 in the US, and £229.99 in the UK, down from its RRP of £359.

It may seem like Garmin is clearing out stock of an old watch, but that’s no reason not to capitalize on what is an excellent deal. The Forerunner 255 Music might be an upgrade on the 745, but the 255 Music hasn’t dropped below $330 yet in any sale I can remember, so at $280 the 745 offers better value than anything else.

The Forerunner 745 is an excellent sports tracker with detailed training analysis and it has useful smart features like music storage and the ability to link up with streaming services including Spotify for offline playback.

It doesn’t have maps, but you can sync routes to the watch and follow a breadcrumb trail on your wrist, which is usually good enough to find your way in my experience. 

The 745 even offers Garmin’s useful ClimbPro feature for routing, which identifies the climbs and descents on your route and shows them individually so you can judge your effort on climbs taking into account how much uphill is left.

Garmin’s newer watches do offer more accurate GPS and more insightful training analysis, but the 745 is perfectly acceptable on those fronts, and at such a big discount it’s worth considering. The only other notable drawback is its short battery life—I had to charge it every four or five days, while the Forerunner 255 would last me six days even with the smaller 255S model.

At its RRP, or even close to it, the Forerunner 745 doesn’t make sense in Garmin’s line-up. However, at $280 in the Prime Day sale, there is a case for picking it up, as long as you’re aware of the 745’s drawbacks compared with newer models.

Massage guns are high-powered pummeling devices designed to activate muscles pre-exercise and fasttrack recovery post-workout. The very best massage guns command a steep fee, and with the jury still out on their scientifically-proven benefit, I’m somewhat skeptical of their merits. 

That said, they are certainly fun to use and you didn’t hear me complaining when I became the go-to massage gun reviewer for Coach. Massage guns are also a category you can expect to be discounted and Amazon Prime Day is no exception. 

There are four deals worth considering in 2023’s Prime Day, and while I’d usually recommend the more affordable Theragun Mini, the 42% discount on the top-of-the-range Theragun is too good to resist. 

Connected exercise bikes are a great way to get in shape, and more importantly stay in shape, since having fast access to live and on-demand studio classes makes finding the motivation to workout regularly that little bit easier.

They can be very expensive, however, especially bikes from the biggest brand in the area—Peloton. Peloton certainly justifies its price—that’s what our recent review of the Peloton Bike+ found—but there are certainly cheaper options (even with Peloton’s Prime Day discounts), and you can get the excellent Echelon EX-15 bike for just $350 in the Amazon Prime Day sale.

We’ve tested several Echelon bikes on Coach, including the Echelon Sport Smart Connect, which has an almost identical set-up to the EX-15. There’s no built-in screen with the bike, which you do get on pricier options from Echelon and others, but it does have a tablet/smartphone holder on the handlebars to view the Echelon app.

The instructor-led classes from Echelon are every bit as motivational and effective as you’d hope for with a studio bike, and there are more than just cycling sessions in the app, with yoga, Pilates, HIIT and strength training among the other options.

The Spinning-style of studio class is the main reason to get the bike, of course, and it has a 7kg flywheel that allows for 32 levels of resistance, more than enough to whip anyone into shape. The bike itself is small and fairly lightweight, which makes it easier to move around the house, and it runs quietly so you won’t bother the neighbors or even the people you live with.

While the bike itself is very cheap in the Amazon sale, it’s worth noting that you need an Echelon membership to get the most from the bike, which is a significant ongoing cost (though you can bring it down by buying a long-term membership upfront). 

If you decide against an Echelon subscription, you can still use the bike in free-ride mode, manually adjusting the resistance using the dial as you ride. Without a membership you can’t use the classes and your stats won’t save, but it will still get you fit and you can follow guided workouts from other sources.

I run several times a week, covering anywhere from 20 miles a week to 40, and as much as I hate to admit it, I am often influenced by the running gear I see on TikTok. Whether it be the best running shorts, new racing shoes or the latest headphones for running, there’s every chance that if I see it, I'll consider buying it. So when I saw my trusty running vest go viral on the app, it was nice to feel ahead of the curve (and know my bank balance was safe for now).

The Aonijie hydration vest is perfect if you find you want to run with water and it has become popular among “runtok”, a community of runners sharing their training journeys on TikTok. The price is much more affordable than vests from top-tier trail-running brands and it’s lasted me four years. 

I stumbled across this running vest on Amazon when I was still a student, looking for a cheaper option to carry my keys and water on hot summer runs. I’ve worn the vest for everything from casual runs to long marathon training runs and found the material to be comfortable and lightweight, and it’s still going strong.

I bought the version with the 1.5L hydration bladder and even when filled to the max the bladder compartment sits neatly and comfortably, and doesn't stick out obviously on your back.

If you’re training for an autumn marathon and will be slogging through 30km in the height of summer, I recommend picking up this vest to make sure you stay hydrated throughout. 

The Garmin Epix 2 was my favorite sports watch of 2022 and I’ve used it to track three marathons plus countless other events. Garmin recently launched the Epix Pro watches, which come in different sizes and have built-in flashlights, but the new models are only minor updates on the Garmin Epix 2 and in my review of the Epix Pro I said the older watch offered better value if you could find it in a sale.

Such a sale has now arrived—the Garmin Epix 2 is significantly discounted in the Amazon Prime Day extravaganza. Both the steel and titanium versions of the Epix 2 have been reduced to the lowest price I’ve ever seen them, and they are the standout sports watch deal available this Prime Day.

The Garmin Epix 2 steel watch is now $599.99 down from $899.99, while the titanium watch is $699.99 down from $999.99. Both are excellent watches, but I would opt for the titanium one myself despite the extra outlay.

There are two main reasons for this. The first is that by using titanium for the bezel and back case, the watch becomes significantly lighter, and it’s also more durable than the steel watch. It also has a sapphire screen, which is hardier than the gorilla glass on the steel model.

The second, and more important reason, is that the titanium watch offers multi-band GPS tracking, which you don’t get on the steel model. This multi-band mode is a little more demanding with regards to battery life, but in my experience it does deliver more accurate pace and distance tracking, especially in tricky GPS environments like under tree cover or among tall buildings.

You don’t need to worry about either model of the Garmin Epix 2 missing out on any software features that arrived with the Epix Pro models, such as Garmin’s new hill score and endurance score performance metrics, because these are being rolled back to the older watch.

I hoped to see the Garmin Epix 2 drop to $700 in the Prime Day sales, and Amazon has actually done better than that, since the steel model is just $600. It’s a top deal on one of the best sports watches available whether you opt for steel or titanium, but the latter is a worthy upgrade for $100.

I review a lot of running headphones for Coach, and as someone who runs 50-70 miles a week in training I have a lot of running time to test them. When I’m not trying out new gear for reviews, there is one set I go back to time and time again—the Shokz OpenRun Mini.

The Shokz OpenRun are the best bone conduction headphones available, because they’re cheaper than the OpenRun Pro yet offer pretty much all the same features and they actually have a higher waterproof rating. I prefer the fit of the OpenRun Mini to the standard OpenRun, since the band sits closer to the back of my head, and you don’t lose any features by opting for the Mini.

As part of the Shokz Amazon Prime Day sale, the OpenRun and OpenRun Mini headphones are reduced from $129.95 to $89.95, which is the cheapest I’ve seen them on Amazon.

The Shokz OpenRun Mini are also reduced in the Amazon Prime Day sale in the UK, dropping by 30% from £129.95 to £90.95.

As with all open headphones the awareness you get while using the Shokz OpenRun Mini is their key feature compared to in-ear buds, but they stand out from most other bone conduction headphones because they sound a little better, and have a much more comfortable fit. 

The ear hook on the buds is light and unobtrusive, and creates a very secure fit for exercise. I use the OpenRun Mini with a hat and glasses on most of my runs and the thin band doesn’t get in the way. They’re easy to forget about entirely once you put them on, which is exactly the comfort I want from headphones on the run.

Naturally the sound quality doesn’t match in-ear buds, but for listening to podcasts and music on the run it’s good enough, and getting the OpenRun Mini in a deal means that you have a bit of cash spare to also get some top-notch in-ear headphones for when you’re traveling or in the office.

Several other sets of Shokz headphones are included in the Prime Day sale and the OpenRun Pro has been reduced from $179.95 to $124.95. You might be tempted to spend the extra $35 for the Pro in the sale, since it has Pro in the name, but I urge you not to. I didn’t notice any better sound quality with the Pro, and though it lasts two more hours on a charge, the OpenRun still lasts eight hours, and has a higher water resistance rating of IP67, against the Pro’s rating of IP55.

There are few better times to buy an exercise bike than during the Amazon Prime Day sale. There may not be quite as many bargains available from as many retailers as on Black Friday, but Amazon always includes some big discounts on bikes in its exclusive sale for Prime subscribers, and in 2023 there are big savings on the best exercise bikes from the likes of Peloton and Echelon.

A rose by any other name would smell as sweet, and a Prime Day by any other name would throw up just as many Fitbit deals. At least that's what we thought but the US Amazon Prime Big Deal Days (or Prime Day 2 as everyone is calling it) features no—zero, zilch, nada—Fitbit deals.

In the UK, prices have dropped, but not quite as far as Prime Day in July. The only notable difference being the inclusion of the Versa 4. It’s the best Prime Day Fitbit deal in our opinion.

FAQs

On paper the Bose Sports Earbuds are hard to recommend over the best workout headphones from the likes of Jabra and Beats, which tend to offer more battery life and extra features like active noise cancellation in their buds.

However, I have tested a lot of great sports headphones in recent years and keep on coming back to the Bose Sport Earbuds, with the main reason for that being the comfortable fit they offer. That might not sound like much, but most sports headphones achieve a secure fit via wings, hooks or in-ear tips, and these can start to feel uncomfortable over extended use. That’s never been a problem with the Bose Sport Earbuds and it makes them a pleasure to use.

The comfortable and secure fit is backed up by great sound quality, which you would expect from Bose, and you can now tinker with the EQ on the buds via a partner app. That’s a feature that arrived via an update after the headphones launched, along with other improvements like the ability to change the volume on the buds. Bose continues to develop the Sport Earbuds, which is always a plus when splashing out on a pricy product.

This Prime Day the Bose Sport Earbuds have been reduced to $149 from their RRP of $179. It’s not the biggest discount you’ll find on sports headphones on Prime Day but it’s a welcome reduction to a great set of buds.

It’s not the only deal on Bose products in the Prime Day sales either, with the Bose Frames Tempo reduced to $199 from a RRP of $249. The Frames Tempo are sports sunglasses with speakers built-in the frames so you can listen to audio while keeping your ears completely clear, a bonus when exercising outdoors in busy areas where you need to be aware of your surroundings.

If you’re in the UK the Bose Sport Earbuds don’t seem to be included in the Prime Day sale, but the good news is they are currently either £136.99 or £149 down from £179.95, depending on the colour you opt for.

When a product is updated annually there is always a point in the year where people start to wonder if it’s wiser to simply wait for the new version, even if the older one starts cropping up in sales.

That might be the exact question you’re asking this Prime Day, because the Apple Watch Series 7 range has been reduced by as much as 19% in some cases, and yet we expect the Apple Watch Series 8 to be launched in September or October.

The new watch will no doubt feature some improvements on the Series 7, but it’s unlikely that anything that amounts to a game changer arrives on the Series 8. Rumours abound that there will be a new larger, rugged version of the watch better suited to the great outdoors, but that seems unlikely and even if it does arrive, it will have a hard time unseating sports watches from the likes of Garmin, Polar and Coros.

Other rumours suggest the new watch will have temperature sensors on board, which is a nice update but hardly worth holding out for. Other health features expected to arrive on the Apple Watch at some point include the ability to measure blood sugar and blood pressure, but that kind of advanced tech is probably still several years away.

In fact, the biggest upgrade to the Apple Watch line this year will actually come in the watchOS 9 software update that is also rolling out to the Series 7. This will add a triathlon mode, plus a raft of other improvements to the sports tracking, including the ability to measure running power from the wrist, SWOLF scores for swimmers, and customisable running workouts.

Outside of the sports tracking upgrades, watchos 9 will also improve the sleep tracking on the watch, allowing you to see the stages of your night broken down into REM, deep and light sleep.

For many people, ourselves included, these software updates are far more useful than anything new we’re likely to see on the Apple Watch Series 8, so go ahead and grab the Series 7 in the Prime Day sale.

Those looking to buy a new running watch have been treated to a smörgåsbord of terrific deals in the Amazon Prime Day sale this year, with a host of Garmin devices in particular receiving substantial discounts.

Some standout deals included discounts on the budget-friendly Garmin Forerunner 45, reduced to £103 from its RRP of £159.99, and the all-singing, all-dancing Fenix 6 Pro, which dropped from £599.99 to £479.

However, the best deal of all is on the Garmin Forerunner 245, which is available for £165, a 34% discount on its usual RRP of £249.99. While this isn’t the Forerunner 245 Music, so you’re not getting music storage and the ability to stream to running headphones, this is still a great deal on what is the best all-round running watch going.

The Forerunner 245 nails all the essentials runners need, providing accurate GPS tracking, structured workouts and insightful analysis to help you keep your training on track. It also offers breadcrumb navigation, and the battery lasts up to 24 hours in GPS mode.

In terms of the amount features you get for your money, the Forerunner 245 is the best running watch you can get. It lacks a few exciting extras like colour maps, epic battery life or even more detailed training analysis, which are found on more expensive watches, but it will cover all the key bases and more for most runners while coming in under £300. And if you can pick it up for £165, the value you’re getting is hard to beat.

This is also the lowest price we’ve seen the Forerunner 245 on Amazon, and it’s worth noting that it is a watch Garmin is still supporting with regular updates. For example, Garmin’s new suggested workouts feature was recently added to the watch, which will now offer up a run for you to try each day, based on your recent training load.

We’re not expecting an update to the Forerunner 245 to be released anytime soon either, so you should be getting these kind of updates for a while yet. That’s in contrast to the Forerunner 45 which has just been replaced by the Forerunner 55 in Garmin’s line-up and so is unlikely to get key software updates going forward.

If you are keen on going for the best of the best, it’s still worth looking at the Fenix 6 Pro watches in the Prime Day sale, but for the vast majority of runners the Forerunner 245 will cater to your every desire.

Deals on home cardio machines are few and far between, especially because stocks of rowing machines, exercise bikes and treadmills aren’t back to pre-pandemic levels. Which makes these three reductions from Nordictrack and Proform in the Amazon Prime Day sale really stand out.

On top of that, the reductions are up to 41% on four-figure machines and each is a connected model so you can stream guided workouts. These are one-day deals so we’d recommend moving fast.

You’re saving £700 on this smart spin-style bike which connects to iFit for guided workouts. Your first year’s subscription is included and after that the subscription is substantially cheaper than other manufacturer’s apps. There are 22 levels of resistance, an incline range of -10% to 20% and a pair of light dumbbells are included – a feature set you just don’t find for three figures.

We mean no disrespect, but this is more machine than most of us need. The top speed is 22km/h and the powerful 3CHP motor means it can run smoothly at the speed for longer than you can (again, no disrespect, that is very fast). The treadmill also connects to iFit, although you’ll need to supply your own screen – a tablet or smartphone can be mounted on the console.

This is a great price for a connected rowing machine, with a one-year subscription to iFit included in the price. This model also folds using a hinge in the middle so it can be stored more easily.
