Join A 12-Hour Exercise Class Marathon This Sunday And Raise Funds For Women’s Aid

If you’re stuck at home and looking for things to fill your time until the lockdown lifts, there are a lot of great fundraising initiatives you can take part in. As well as passing the time, these will give you a helpful dose of motivation and the chance to make a positive contribution to something.

However, charity challenges often require you to post a photo or video on social media, which not everyone wants to do, or go to extremes you may not fancy. Well here’s a great alternative: a 12-Hour Exercise Marathon For Women’s Aid, taking place online this Sunday 10th May between 8am and 8pm.

Women’s Aid supports survivors of domestic abuse and has experienced greater demand for its services since the lockdown started. The charity’s #SupportSurvivors drive is raising funds to make sure it can extend its Live Chat opening hours and help every woman who needs it.

The 12 hours on Sunday will be filled with a succession of 30-minute classes for you to take part in. There’s no need to join in on social media and you don’t even have to push yourself to exercise all day. Simply donate on the Just Giving page, tick the box that allows organiser Classfinder to contact you, and you’ll be sent a link to the live stream on Sunday.

The classes that form the challenge offer something different from the type of workouts you tend to find online. There are genuinely family-friendly workouts with sessions suitable for different age groups, from babies to teens; popular group fitness styles that don’t get as much press as HIIT classes from boutique gyms, like Zumba, Boxercise and fun dance routines; and music-led offerings like Clubbercise and RockBox. There are also sessions from disability fitness experts Inclusfit and low-impact classes so everyone can get in on the action.

It’s just the sort of thing we’d expect from Classfinder, a website designed to help people find classes near them easily, which was set up by EMD UK, the national governing body for group exercise. The website now lists online classes and is well worth checking out if you want to broaden your fitness horizons during lockdown.
